Sample project scenario

Good Advice, a research and advisory services firm composed of teams of professionals (students), seeks to inform businesses in the restaurant, software development, and retail clothing industries of the potential benefits of using the partnership model to staff their companies. Rather than hiring people as wage earning employees, it is better to bring them in as business partners who share in the profit and the loss of the business.

To test the idea, the firm has decided to conduct in-depth interviews of selected managers and staff from local businesses in these industries. The questions and discussions will focus on quality of work performed, staff turnover, and staff morale. Similar interviews also will be conducted at local firms like law, engineering, and consulting firms that traditionally staff their organizations primarily with business partners and associates at various levels.

Analysis of the interview results from both sets of organizations will be performed and comparisons made to determine the impact of each staffing approach. A report of the findings will be published and shared with the participating organizations.
